LIISA VITALI (1918-1987)

Liisa Vitali, born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1918, is considered to be one of Finland’s most well-known designers. She worked from her home and designed feminine, sensual jewelry in silver and gold. Her designs were modern and inspired by nature.

Vitali used a technique in her jewelry where she would cut holes in the metal. These pieces were extremely popular not only in Finland but worldwide during the 1960s and 1970s, with her “Pitsi” (Lace) series being one of the reigning favorites, still highly sought after today. Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret of Britain is said to have been a fan.
